stats: 6/6 to 8/6

Second month, more than 500 installs between Google's web store and chromeextensions.org, and for almost 20.000 times my extension was initialized, it was used 2.821 times (total amount of search clicks)... it means 14.2% usage... I'm still not sure if that's good or not, but it's still 1.2% more than last month :D

Anyhow, as of yesterday you can prevent the extension from tracking this info, but for those who still won't block this feature, here's the top 30 sites more used on searches with my extension.

Still, youtube.com on top of the list... I wonder why, really... It never crossed my mind to use this extension for that... but well.. it's interesting to know... I wonder if there's anything I might add to the extension that would help search for videos... We'll see.

I'm probably going to have to clean up some of these URLs next time, for example, have several instances of Google (like google.com.uy or google.ru) which should all sum for google.com, right? The same might apply for it.wikipedia.org and en.wikipedia.org
I probably won't be doing that for the likes of translate.google.com or other specific subdomains, though...

It seems there's little I can do to make these changes automatically... I created this macro in Excel, which I'm not proud of, to clean up the data from Google Analytics into this HTML table that I pasted above... I'll probably add some find and replace to it, for these cases.

Have fun.

Version 0.1.6 now available

It took me a while but it's finally on-line... I really hope this all goes well... you won't find much new stuff to do with this version, but a lot changed on it's code...

I already said this on my previous post: as I work more with JSON I find it harder to understand how I did it before. Code got so much more cleaner!

I tested and tested the extension for a while... I tried to test different "update scenarios" and so far, all the times I got it right... there are a couple of backward compatibility functions within the code so you won't loose your previous configuration... I even left a few extra measures, like not really removing your old config, just in case... but I really hope it all goes well... and I can clean all those functions a couple of builds ahead.

If it doesn't please do tell.

What else? yes, now you can export your config, and take it to other installs... not as functional as cloud sync but it's a start, right?

And for the "paranoid" ones, you can now stop the search engines tracking which is enabled by default.

Hope you like it, and that all works ok... please, let me know.

I don't really need  to say this, right? but if you're still not using it, go get it clicking on the big blue download button on the right of this post :P
